I installed the firmware for the go pro labs for my new Hero 12 Pros and the QR code that I am scanning that works for my Hero 9's is not working. When I scan the QR code, there is a box with a check mark and then it says overlays active, but I don't see the overlay on the screen of the go pro, I try to take a time lapse anyway and it isn't showing. I have tried to many different trouble shooting things, but it is not working. The QR code is to generate a time stamp on my time lapse videos and it is not working or populating on the screen even though the go pro is accepting the QR code.

This is known issue with GP2 cameras. The only modes that support overlays are video mode 4K30 8-bit 16x9, or lower resolution. Only timelapse supported is TimeWarp 4K 16x9. The issue is not fixable as relates to GP2 cameras using newer technology (for most capture modes) that the older overlay engine doesn't support. Overlay support is the one feature HERO9 does better, everything else is better on GP2 cameras.
